My husband and I recently had the incredible opportunity to adopt a newborn baby girl, Ava, from Virginia. Unfortunately, Ava had some early breathing complications which required her to be transferred to CHKD’s NIC Unit for 8 days. During her stay, the staff at CHKD was gracious enough to recommend that we move into the Ronald McDonald House.
As you can imagine, adopting a newborn baby girl alone is very emotional let alone having health concerns on top of the situation. Fortunately, however, we were able to have the opportunity to utilize the Ronald McDonald House facilities to reduce the emotional and financial stress of staying locally in a hotel. We can’t thank you enough for your hospitality. The accommodations were very convenient and clean and the staff was very pleasant during our stay.
We’d also like to say thank you for all the families and organizations that provided meals during our stay. In particular, we’d like to provide a special thanks to the groups that made meals. We could tell it was made with love. Those meals always provided us with the “home” feeling we were missing.
Our newborn daughter is now doing well and she will have an incredible story about the generous acts of so many wonderful people that accompanied her new journey into this world. Thank you again!”
